The IAQA Government Affairs Committee works hard to keep IAQA Members informed on the latest legislation and regulations related to indoor air quality. The Committee reports periodically with a large update. They also receive input from IAQA Members through surveys to influence legislative efforts.
State of Texas Disaster Response: HB 2358
For those responding to the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey, the State of Texas enacted a law in 2015 that provide exemptions from license and tax requirements for out of state companies. The Texas legislature passed HB 2358 in June 2015 which amends both the Business and Commerce Code and Tax Code to implement the “Facilitating Business Rapid Response to State Declared Disasters Act”. IAQA’s Government Affairs Committee is dedicated to serving IAQA’s members and the public by providing a proactive and involved outreach effort to legislators and regulators at all levels of government. Our goal is to be responsive to members who have questions and interest in any legislation that affects air quality in the built environment, as well as to help build relationships with legislators so that our public servants can obtain the expertise of IAQA members.
