Title: Completing IAQ Site Assessments on Amish Homes

The Amish community either does not use electricity, or only uses it in a minimal way.  This, in combination with a lifestyle that often promotes elevated humidity, and utilizes unique construction methods, makes completing an IAQ site assessment on an Amish home a challenge and where recommendations normally cannot include the use of electricity.  We will look at causes of elevated humidity in the basement, symptoms of humidity issues on the first & second floors, and roof systems with unique attitudes toward ventilation.

Speaker Bio:

Mr. Bennett has been working in the indoor air quality industry for 22 years.  He is a Certified Microbial Consultant, Certified Microbial Remediation Supervisor, and the current Chapter Director of the North-East Ohio IAQA Chapter.  He has taught classes on completing microbial assessments to home inspectors for InterNACHI and also other professional groups.  He has completed approximately 6,000 microbial assessments on residential and commercial properties that include about 700 Amish homes.
