Certification Information
Certification examinations are administered through the American Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC), an independent certifying body. There are three designations in the ACAC credential track: the Council-certified Fire and Smoke Consultant (CFSC), which requires 8 years of verifiable field experience; the Council-certified Fire and Smoke Technician (CFST), which requires 2 years of verifiable field experience; and, the Council-certified Fire and Smoke Assistant Technician (CFSAT), which requires being active in the field of assessment and investigation of structural, protein and wildfire incidents.
