Brad Kovar

Brad Kovar is the founder, President and CEO of Safeguard EnviroGroup, a distinguished indoor environmental consulting firm in Southern California, where he currently presides as the company’s President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Kovar’s responsibilities include operations management of all service divisions, senior technical overview and oversight of corporate programs, client development and contract negotiation. He implements company policy and operating procedures, developed all technical templates for reporting and actively pursues business opportunities through diversification of services, relationships and business alliances to insure continued growth. Through his dynamic leadership and strategic planning, he successfully guided the organization to become one of the prominent indoor environmental consulting firms in California. Through research and education, Safeguard EnviroGroup staff have collaborated with other indoor environmental professionals to address important indoor environmental issues. Safeguard EnviroGroup conducts research, development and technology pursuing sustainable solutions to environmental challenges. He holds board – awarded designations in several indoor environmental disciplines, third-party accredited by the Council of Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards (CESB) and the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
Mr. Kovar has extensive experience as a hygienist, author, researcher and consultant in the indoor environmental industry. He has personally conducted hundreds of investigations and written thousands of analytical reports involving a broad range of indoor environmental issues including; microbiology, allergens and smoke damage in residential, commercial and industrial settings. He has substantial experience in presenting IICRC approved continuing education courses and training workshops to indoor environmental professionals, insurance carriers and remediation specialists with such topics as, microbiology, sewage/CAT 3 loses and wildfire smoke damage investigations and remediation.
He has delivered numerous technical presentations to industry associations, symposiums and conferences including AIHce, IICRC and IAQA. Mr. Kovar serves as a scientific advisor/consultant for insurance companies on major loss claims and provides expert testimony and pre-trial forensic case development for attorneys in high-profile litigation. Mr. Kovar has completed numerous indoor environmental research manuscripts and procedural guidelines published in scientific peer review journals and actively participates on several environmental boards and committees, including the IAQA Education Committee, IICRC S520 Consensus Body and AIHA Wildfire Project Team. In addition, Mr. Kovar was the principle drafter of an upcoming fire and smoke damage national standard.
Most recently, Mr. Kovar worked closely with the American Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC) to develop the industry’s first Fire and Smoke Damage Consultant certification, launched in October 2016. This certification is on course towards dual-accreditation by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) and the Council for Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards (CESB). Mr. Kovar chaired both ACAC steering committees and was the principle drafter of the study review and exam preparation guide in which the exam questions were derived.
Mr. Kovar is the founder and principal instructor at IAQprepcourses.com where he developed the curriculum for the site’s first ACAC approved prep-course in support of the ACAC newly launched Council-certified Fire and Smoke Damage (CFSx) certification program.
